Several years ago I was working on a complex abstract painting composed of many shapes, colors and forms. Suddenly I realized that I wanted to enclose all these elements within the image of a dwelling. As soon as I did this I felt liberated and energized and new design decisions became clear.
Eventually the “home” format became a way for me to explore numerous subjects and styles. Putting these into a house shape gave them a unique focus and a jumping off space for an observer to interpret in their own way.
The House could be personal “my home” or universal, “Our home planet”. I can see it both ways.
Maybe the Buddha would tell me “Take refuge in the image of a home.”
Thanks, Jenny
